Aeh’s story is a testament to the unfortunate reality of the black market trade of gibbons. He was purchased as a baby gibbon from a black market in Bangkok and was kept as a pet by his owner for some time before being surrendered to the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project’s head office in Bangkok. He was eventually transferred to the WARED project in Ranong province, where he lived for a period of time before being relocated to GRP. Despite his difficult past, Aeh is a lively and vocal gibbon who loves to sing. His singing has even been known to inspire other nearby gibbons to join in. As a juvenile, Aeh was housed with several other gibbons of similar age, but as he grew older, attempts to pair him with female pileated gibbons were unsuccessful. Currently, Aeh is housed next to Honey, a black-handed gibbon, and they are in the early stages of flirting with one another. The GRP staff and volunteers are hopeful that this pairing may lead to a successful bond between the two gibbons, which could potentially result in the birth of a new generation of gibbons at the project. By sponsoring Aeh, you can help support his ongoing care and contribute to the important work of the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project. Your support can help provide Aeh with the resources he needs to continue to live a happy and fulfilling life, and potentially even help with the growth of the gibbon population at GRP. Thank you for considering sponsoring Aeh and for your commitment to making a positive impact in the world. |
